Meet Melinda Toy:

Hi! My name is Melinda Toy and I will be your child’s administrator! I am currently residing in Canfield, OH but I spend a lot of time in the Salem community! Over the past 10 years I have taught preschool children, ages 3-4 and have also ran a successful center of over 100 children, ages ranging from 6weeks to 12 years.  At the age of 29 I felt that it was time to explore my options and use my knowledge to open and run my own center.  I would like to personally welcome you to my pride and joy… The Early Bird Learning Center!

In August of 2008 I graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family & Education.  I continue my education annually by obtaining 20+ hours of in-service training each year.  In-service training include, but not limited to, first aid, communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, Ohio early learning content standards, and the administrative rules training.

During my schooling at YSU I had many opportunities to work in the local schools & preschools with a diverse group of children. I have also been employed with a company since the age of 18 and have experienced both teaching and administrating.  Spending 10 years in a loving, caring environment has made me a very strong, but loving administrator.  I understand the ups & downs that children go through and I am here to help them succeed!

Throughout my years of being an administrator I have received many perfect state inspections and received a star rating, by the State of Ohio, for my center.  Before leaving my prior company I was promoted to running 2 full centers (100+ kids each) and an afterschool program of around 20 kids. I have learned many things over the years and plan to share my knowledge with the staff, children, and parents of the Early Bird Learning Center.

I have many plans for the children of the Early Bird Learning Center.  I intend to provide a clean, safe, and healthy environment to all the children.  I feel that I have made the center educational, but a fun environment for your children.
